Wine tourism in France is much more than vineyard visits and tastings. The best wine experiences in France happen at festivals and events – harvest celebrations, vintage release parties, and a growing number of creative events that combine wine with cycling races, running, or picnics among the vines.

French appellations are increasingly inventive about how they welcome visitors, and the calendar of wine events in 2026 reflects that. Whether you want to be in Burgundy for the Hospices de Beaune auction, the Loire Valley for the harvest festivals, or Alsace for a wine-and-cycling weekend, there is something for every kind of wine lover.

As a certified French Wine Ambassador, I’ve put together the wine festivals and events in France that are genuinely worth planning your trip around – not just the famous ones, but the ones that offer something you can’t get from a standard winery visit.

Here’s the list.
