Your Perfect Self-Driving Wine Journey Through France, Planned by a French Wine Ambassador

France is one of the world’s great wine countries – and one of its most rewarding travel destinations. But the France that most visitors experience and the France that’s actually worth the journey are two very different things. Knowing which wine regions and appellations deserve your time, which producers offer something genuinely memorable, and how to experience it all at the right pace requires the kind of local knowledge that simply can’t be found online.

That’s exactly what I offer: a bespoke, self-driving wine journey through France, planned by a certified French Wine Ambassador who lives here, travels these regions every year, and knows which experiences are truly worth your time – and which are better left to someone else’s itinerary.

I don’t book anything for you – and that’s intentional. You keep full control over your reservations, your pace, and every decision along the way. What I give you is the expert knowledge, curated recommendations, and strategic roadmap to make every choice the right one – so you arrive in France confident, prepared, and ready to enjoy every moment.

Is This You?

“I want a wine-centered trip to France that feels elevated, authentic, and genuinely French – not another tourist circuit.”

You’ve traveled before. You appreciate good wine and good food, and you know the difference between a memorable experience and a polished but forgettable one. You want to go beyond the obvious routes – to discover the wine regions, the producers, and the cellar experiences that most visitors never find.

You’re not looking to become a wine expert. You simply want to experience France through its wine culture: the landscapes, the stories, the people behind the bottles, and the art of sitting down to a long, unhurried meal with the right glass in hand.

But planning this kind of trip takes more than enthusiasm. You’re navigating:

  • Famous wine regions that produce celebrated wines – just not the styles or grape varieties that speak to you
  • Websites in French and clunky translations (or no translations at all)
  • Outdated forums, generic travel blogs, and conflicting AI recommendations
  • Tourist-heavy experiences that feel impressive on paper but disappointing in person
  • The very real risk of investing significant time and money in a trip that doesn’t quite deliver

“I want to travel well – without the planning becoming a second job.”

Your time is valuable. You want the confidence that you’re visiting the right places, at the right pace, with nothing essential overlooked – and the reassurance that someone who truly knows France has thought it through for you.

What I Offer

A personalized wine journey plan for independent travelers who want expert guidance without losing autonomy.

My planning philosophy is simple: fewer places, more depth, more time. A great wine journey is never rushed. I don’t design itineraries that try to cover six regions in ten days. I design journeys where you have time to linger in a cellar, return to a village you loved, and open a second bottle because the conversation warrants it.

Here’s what that means in practice:

Expert curation – I find the regions and producers whose wines you’ll actually love, not just the ones everyone visits – and build the right experiences around your specific interests and travel style.

Local knowledge – I live in France, travel its wine regions throughout the year, and know which producers welcome independent visitors warmly, which emerging appellations are worth discovering before the crowds arrive, and which famous names are better left to the label.

Honest advice – I’ll tell you when a celebrated estate has become too commercial for what you’re looking for, and point you toward the family domaine down the road that opens something extraordinary for visitors who clearly know what they’re looking at.

Full independence – I don’t book anything for you, and that’s by design. You drive, you decide, you travel at your own pace. My job is to make sure every choice you make is an informed one.

How I Plan Your Journey

Every journey I design follows the same three-step process:

1. We talk

A 45-minute video call where I learn everything that matters: your wine knowledge and preferences, the regions that interest you, the pace you travel at, what you’ve loved on previous wine trips, and what you want this journey to feel like. The more precisely you can describe what you’re looking for, the more precisely I can curate.

2. I curate

This is where my expertise does the work. I research, cross-reference, and select – building a journey around the producers worth visiting, the experiences that match your level, the places to stay with genuine character, and the moments beyond the glass that make France memorable. I present three options per category with my honest reasoning for each, so you’re choosing from the best, not browsing the internet.

3. You receive your roadmap

Within 5 business days, your complete planning document and interactive Google Map arrive in your inbox – everything you need to book and travel with confidence, your way.

Not comfortable speaking English on a video call because it’s not your first language? Don’t worry, it’s not mine either! If you prefer, we can have our video call in French, Italian, Spanish, or Catalan. The planning documents and final itinerary will be provided in English.

About Elisa

Bonjour! I’m Elisa, a French Wine Ambassador based in Paris.

I hold the French Wine Ambassador designation from the École des Vins et Spiritueux in Paris, the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, and am currently enrolled in the Bourgogne Masters program by Wine Scholar Guild. This is the kind of formal wine training that most travel consultants simply don’t have. When I recommend an appellation, a domaine, or a specific cellar experience, I’m drawing on genuine expertise – not a list I assembled from other travel sites.

Elisa - Alsace
That’s me in the Alsace Wine Region

I travel every French wine region throughout the year – not as a tourist passing through, but as a French local who understands the full picture: which producers are doing extraordinary work, which regions are emerging and worth visiting before they become well-known, and which celebrated estates have become more about the brand than the wine.

Through my France travel websites – France Bucket List and World in Paris, read by hundreds of thousands of travelers annually – I’ve helped countless visitors plan meaningful trips to France. Wine has always been at the heart of the best journeys I’ve designed. Uncorked France is where that expertise lives.

Good to Know

🎯 This Is Right for You If…

✓ You’re a wine lover who wants to explore France beyond the well-worn tourist circuit

✓ You travel independently – your own/rented car, your own pace, your own bookings

✓ You value depth over breadth: fewer places, experienced properly, without rushing

✓ You’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or solo – up to 4 people

✓ You’re curious and open to discovering lesser-known appellations alongside the iconic ones, and you trust that sometimes the most memorable experiences are the ones nobody told you about

🚫 This Is Not Right for You If…

✗ You’re planning last-minute – this process takes time to do properly, and that’s intentional

✗ You’re looking for a guided tour, a concierge service, or someone to handle your bookings – this is a planning service for independent travelers

✗ You’re traveling with young children or on a tight budget – this service is designed for adult travelers seeking depth and quality

✗ You have significant mobility limitations – many wine experiences involve historic cellars, uneven vineyard terrain, and countryside settings

🚫 What’s Not Included

To be clear about what this service is: I provide a strategic plan, curated recommendations, and insider knowledge. I don’t make bookings, arrange transportation, or provide an ongoing concierge service after delivery.

That independence is, for most of my clients, exactly the point. You arrive in France with a roadmap built by someone who knows the country and its wines deeply – and then you travel it your way.

I don’t provide minute-by-minute daily schedules or ongoing email support after your roadmap is delivered. What I provide is everything you need to make excellent decisions independently.

Château-Châlon Vineyards – Jura Wine Region

Ready to Plan Your Wine Journey Through France?

The cellar that’s been in the same family for six generations. The appellation nobody outside France has heard of yet. The winemaker who opens something special for the visitor who clearly understands what they’re looking at.

These experiences exist. They’re just not on any list. Let me show you where they are.

Strategic planning, expert curation, and insider tips for an unforgettable, wine-centered trip to France. For trips of up to 10 days, up to 4 adults, and covering a maximum of 2–3 wine regions.

This isn’t another travel expense. It’s a smart investment that can actually save you money by helping you avoid poorly timed visits, tourist traps, and unnecessary driving. More importantly, it helps you get the most out of your time and your wine experience in France.
